Hello everyone,

My name is Rick Jr., and I am a new member from California seeking some agricultural advice.

I currently operate a 3-bottom International plow that does not have a gauge wheel attached. I am trying to determine if it is impractical or ill-advised to plow without this component, particularly when working in relatively dry, light soil conditions.

My main question is: If I set the depth controls on the tractor, can I expect the plowed ground to remain reasonably level and consistent without the aid of a gauge wheel?

Thank you in advance for your help and expertise.

tail wheel makes it easier to set the depth... but a lot of 3 bottom plows in use without one.... Depends on the tractor and ground conditions... all you can do is try it and see the results..
