| Neighbor leaves theres on 24/7 . Only time it's off is Halloween. Anyone on here leave lights on like that? Just curious. Thanks |

Front door has motion light. No yard/street light close enough to light steps very well. Leave light on at back door as security light,(shop is in back yard), and dog run/pen is out back door. 300 watt equivalent LED bulb on 24/7. We don't leave any lights on here, do have a street light though When it quits working I call the power company pretty quick. When I had my knee replacement I did leave a light on inside. Thanks |

We do leave one yellow bug light on 24/7, in the back yard, as the switch for that light is in another part of the house that is not ‘on the way’ to the back yard. Grandparents always left the light on above kitchen sink at night, but off during the day. ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

Yard light illuminates the front porch enough and where we park our vehicles and the Ring doorbell camera picks up any motion plus a motion detector light on the basement door for the backyard. Too much illumination inside the house from various electronic devices. We have too much light pollution these days. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

We leave two small LED's (one on each side) on in our front door entry and a LED yard light at the peak over the garage door. We also have Ring doorbells and several (solar powered) Ring cameras all around the house/garage and a Simplisafe security system.

Motion lights here. Otherwise the neighbor has a security light on the side of his house that glares right in to my house precisely located to annoy me when I watch TV. In town, one of my duties is to address these type complaints among the citizens. How’s that for irony |

Allis folks, Light on or off? Most of ours are on timers or are motion lights. Don't have any I leave on all the time except for one under cabinet light in kitchen. | Outside we have 3 LED yard lights. Corner of the machine shed, Front of barn and cow yard side of barn. They are all Dusk to dawn. Also have a few cheap solar LED motion lights around the yard for doing chores in the dark and 1 by the entry door to the house. I like them but they only stay on 30 seconds unless you mess with the settings. I wish they stayed on about 2 minutes. We have a light under the kitchen cabinet that stays on 24/7 and a string of lights under the shelf with the toy tractors. |

. I have dusk to dawn security lights on the driveway and rear deck. Manual front porch lights (though may go to motion at some point). Cameras. Purpose of the lights is so I can see anyone out there and they can't see in the house. The LED bulbs are 8watts so barely any cost/yr. Back in the 70s my father had someone sabotaging farm equipment at night. He put up yard lights and dogs to stop it. Culture has kind of returned to that risk lately. Think of your operation as a fortress getting attacked and figure out security layers. Push trees and shrubbery to the property line and use lights between. Don't have big vegetation next to the house. Gangster Farmer or Zombie Apocalypse are the two scenarios to think about. Watch the first four seasons of Walking Dead it's a documentary ;) . . |

I have a lot of elderly friends and family that visit. I don't want someone tripping or falling on unlit steps or sidewalk. Also, all our door locks are combination activated and lights make it much easier to see. I have a motion switch on a 4' LED in the garage. When the overhead door goes up or anyone opens the man door, the light goes on and stays on for 10 minutes. It makes it really nice if I have to go out to get something out of a vehicle.
