When I got my D 15 (gas engine) it had one, which I replaced with a regular breather/oil fill. Just wondering if this was O.E. Anyone know? It's a 1961 . Thanks

Early D-15's prior to s/n 9001 had an oil fill/breather cap like a D-17 did with no road draft tube. Effective with s/n 9001 (series 2) the valve cover was different and the oil fill cap was a 1/2 turn twist to remove or install and had to have a road draft tube because it sealed up tight. What you have/had, I have no idea.

If you have the correct valve cover (by s/n) there isn't any place to even connect a blow-by tube.

Sounds homemade to me. A hose that connects to where the breather/fill cap goes sounds like something I would have done to keep oil from splattering on spark plug wires.

if you have an old engine with excessive blowby... it was not uncommon to put a draft tube on to keep the oily mess shooting toward the ground and keep it off the engine block and valve cover..
