Never heard of it but that price wouldn’t insure a go cart around here.

That's more than I pay for my daily driver. 1990 Chevy Blazer, basic liability is about $40 for 6 months. Combined bill with full coverage on wife's 05 GMC Yukon with $3000 deductable is about $350 for 6 months. Basic liability Commercial insurance policy on my 86 GMC C7000 is about $375 a year. These are Progressive insurance policies through our local agent.

I forget, what state are you in? MO? You can’t insure a soapbox derby car in MI for less than $75 per month.

I’m paying right around $600/ month for 3 vehicles. 2 full coverage with high deductible, 1 basic coverage. I guess that counts home insurance too but that’s fairly inexpensive.

Well,,I get those ads on here every day but hesitate to open the ad and get a bunch of spam,,,I just figured it was kinda bogus, cause I now pay $124 per month thru State Farm for the 2015 F150 and full coverage.
My thoughts are to accept higher deductable for lower cost,,,,??

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but I would like to share an experience of one of a friend/co-worker.

He had $100,000 liability insurance on his older diesel pickup. He loaned the pickup to his grandson (a great kid) , who had a summer job between his junior/senior year in college (now he is an engineer). He was on his way to work early in the morning, and he dozed off. He crossed the centerline and hit a tractor-trailer head on. Luckily, the grandson wasn't seriously injured. The truck was demolished. I didn't see it, but he told me the engine was torn right out of the truck.

The truck he hit, an almost new Western Star, was totaled. Apparently, there was also damage to the tractor trailer's load, too. Damages were estimated to be over $300,000. He is now facing a lawsuit to recover the damages that exceeded his coverage.

When it happened, I took a look at my coverage and increased it significantly. There was an increase in my premium, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Hopefully, I will never need the coverage, but he is 80 years old, has significant assets and is probably going to be liable for the damage.

Per WF's story. this day and age if you have assets there is a dirt bag looking to take them from you.

Highjacking this thread. I own 300 acres, been grazing cattle. It would sell for more than $10,000 per acre, before wine grape prices crashed as high as $50,000 per acre. So how much liability coverage do I need.

Back to Joe. I see the same add. I know it is common for low income people to buy insurance by the day here in the Land of Fruits and Nuts. You need to show insurance at DMV to register or transferer a car. Once you have the sticker in hand, you stop paying insurance. All is good until it is not. So my guess is $19 per day for $1000 dollar rolling wreck. Your purring like a kitten no big dents 25 year old car may cost more.

I go through Progressive, about $100 a month for two vehicles with the higher coverages (I think 300/100/30, but don't quote me) and comprehensive. I also have two motorcycles, about $200/year for full coverage on both. Had a fender bender a couple months ago, reported it and they said no problem, no claims recently so no deductible. Had a vandalism claim on one of the bikes a couple years ago, again no other claims so no deductible. It might not be the cheapest insurance, but it is nice to not have any hassle when you need it. Premiums did not go up after either claim, actually went down by $50 a year on the bike.

The insurance adds mostly require one thing YOUR NAME , Phone Number , Address , and then the phone calls start .
I tried one site and as soon as I entered Zip code the phone rang and agent was ready to quote .
The new deal is buy insurance without going through agent and same big - WELL it seems the agent i use to deal through now ONLY sells policies , claims or questions you need to call company and their special area adjusters or answer individual .
Got a quote from one and he had my 15 year grandson listed as a driver on my policy , mentioned he didn't have a license - agent said he would requote later on .
That $300,000 is kind of standard upper coverage but beyond that you can buy a separate LIABILITY policy (UMBRELA COVERAGE) at a lower cost to protect more .

If I understand correctly, the trucking company that owned the tractor-trailer had to pay the rest of the value of the truck (after my buddy's company paid their maximum coverage).

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the trucking company's insurance carrier is the one that is suing him to recover their payout.
