It's been a million years since I've had to even think of this but here I am. Back in another life when I did diesel truck work, Ford had a coolant additive to prevent "micro bubbles" from basically acting like a ultrasonic cleaner and eroding piston liners (as I recall)

Anyhow, I've come into possession of a few diesels (one being a 5045) and all of the coolant tests at about 0*f for the freeze point across all the machines.

So the question is, is this additive even a "thing" anymore or is any old green coolant ok to run? Not really sure which way to go but want to get whatever is needed to do it right.

Thanks!

YES!!     Napa has it, forgot the name but comes in a white bottle. I bought the last bunch in bulk off Ebay.

New Coolant has the Additive, HOWEVER, it is a Short Lived material so the Add Bottles for the Cavitation reduction, most commonly referred to as DCA.  NAPA, Ford here, sellers of Motorcraft Product lines should have it.  Generic is just DCA where can Google Search that as Diesel DCA.

Fleetguard makes the DCA additive available in small bottles.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

also, should I be getting test strips to figure out how much I need to add? Like I said, it's been a really long time since I've had to think about this. It's some of that information I flushed out to make room for something else haha
