Was running the square baler with my 8050 yesterday when it decided it wanted a nice crankshaft inspection hole in the block. Needless to say i'm now on the hunt for a new engine to get it going fairly quick. I'd like to swap in a 8.3 Cummins, but after pricing some things thats not in the cards for a while. As i figured i'm not finding too many tractor engines, but tons of combine engines. From reading around i know i'll have to tear both engines down pretty far to get everything swapped around, but are there any specific years or models to look for? ------------- Jimmy 1982 8050 Powershift 1982 6080 1992 R52 Gleaner |

| 1982 OR NEWER to have your same fuel injection system. A model N-5 or R-5 would be my choice. A fairly easy swap. Leave the front plate on the combine engine and make a couple of bolt-on angle irons to mate with the side frames. |

Well that should make it better than i was expecting then. I found an engine out of a '83 N6 for a good deal locally. My injectors and pump have less than 150 hours on them so at least i'll be able to re-use them. ------------- Jimmy 1982 8050 Powershift 1982 6080 1992 R52 Gleaner |
