I have a 1949 WD with a one[1] wire alternator, is there supposed to be power to it even when when the igniation switch is turned  off?

that would be one BIG WIRE.. about 10 gauge, maybe bigger.. It runs to the amp meter or straight to the battery... No toggle switch could take the AMPS that the alternator could put out..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
