Ive got a 302 baler in i would sell whole if anyone is interested. Otherwise will part out. It is complete and looks to not have been used much, but has been sitting along time. Has original thrower on it. Asking $650. Will part out if someone needs needles, knotters, pickup parts, etc. 952-290-1063.

I see the left wheel is located to the rear of the main axle, on a stub axle. I recently saw an A-C 444 baler with the same set-up. I have a 303 with both wheels mounted on the main axle. Do you know if the staggered axle was an add-on for the earlier balers? Was staggering the wheels to help protect things if the machine dropped into a rut? Any way you could post more photos of your baler, it looks pretty nice.

On new (NH) balers, that wheel is re-located rearward to compensate for the bale thrower to balance the weight out better. Possibly the same deal on this unit.

OK, that makes sense, the 444 I saw had a bale thrower on it as well.

Not to hijack this thread... but at least it moves it back to the top. I have the shield that covers the pick-up slip clutch. It mounts on the top two holes of the unused original axle flange. It's shown in the 1969 Parts Catalog, P/N 2071221. $10 + shipping from Ohio.

The set back axle was part of the thrower package...
