Merchant Street in the foreground.

The huge Columbia City Cemetery is in the background.

I have no idea what this building was back in Jack and Oliver's day, but I intend to find out; I suspect it was probably a doctor's home/office.

Check out Satellite View at these coordinates:

Check out Street View as well.

I'm inclined to say it was possibly the local creamery. The loading docks on the 'porch', block walls, windows high in the walls of the first floor so things could be stacked against the walls. Second floor was probably warehouse for feed and seed.

Original Cape Cod Style Long John Silver's

https://ibb.co/x8cGZ0Kx" rel="nofollow">

Right beside the Last Surviving Jerry's Restaurant in Paris, Kentucky

Now missing it's square roof-top cupola and it's trademark thick wooden planked "wharf" style steps and entrance, with big Creosote wooden pilings and thick Hemp rope hand-railings; this is one of the "Good" Long John Silver's from when they were a fit place to eat at, before the health nuts ruined them; I have not had a decent meal from a Long John Silver's in 35-years.

An original blue and yellow Long John Silver's sign is on the North side of the building, partially concealed by some red plastic sheeting; you can see the "ng J" letters.

Now, it is a Giovannis Pizza

The Last Surviving Jerry's Restaurant

Opened in 1961, one of 67, she has been the sole survivor since 2020 when two of the remaining three, all in Kentucky, closed their doors.

Today, the menu is almost identical; and, the food is every bit as great as it was in the 1960s.

"Originally a Burger Queen, this family owned and operated restaurant has been a community staple in Campbellsville, Kentucky since opening day in 1970.
Once a restaurant chain of more than 200 locations, many thought the Druther's name was extinct!
Whether you're a first timer or a regular, you are sure to feel right at home the minute you step through our doors.
"I'd Ruther go to Druther's Restaurant!""

In my opinion, changing the corporate name from Burger Queen to Druthers rang the death bell for the once powerful chain.

I had heard from many that this was a great place to eat and was not at all disappointed when we were there; the food and service was excellent; the best French-fries by far that I have ever had.

And..., they have fountain Big Red, cold enough to bust your teeth and not watered down like the drinks at other places; they also have Ski that is as good as Ski was forty years ago.
