1920 D/A - 20 HP Kohler- new gas filter, new air filter- runs good for a bit then acts like it runs out of gas ; choke it , it pulls it thru but not up to top speed- theres a box looking thing / pump that the gas line is connected too - before the carb- any numbers or info on this ??? Thanks!!

Disconnect the existing fuel line between the fuel pump and the carb. Connect a new line from a test tank to the carburetor fuel inlet. Fuel the test tank with fresh gas. The described system bypasses the existing. If the engine runs out fine, then you likely have a restriction of fuel flow or a dying pump or both.

Been mesing with it - it will run on Carb cleaner so leaning on fuel delivery - for sure, gonna put a low pressure electric fuel pump on to at least get the grass cut

I know, dumb question, but where is the fuel filter supposed to be on a DA 1920? I recently got one that's been sitting. There's still some crud in the tank. I was able to mow about 20 minutes and it suddenly died off. Quickly determined it couldn't get fuel from tank. Could barely blow back toward tank it was so plugged. After blowing air back to tank I was able to finish mowing after one more stop and blow back session. Was about dark so didn't have a good light, but tried following hose back and it disappears under the frame. Did they really put a service item under the tractor? lol! Power steering is dang nice! Wish my 720 had it!

So to help the next guy, the "filter" is inside the tank, it's a small 1/4" diameter screen about an inch tall soldered on the outlet 90* elbow. I took it out, drilled out the solder and remains of the plugged screen, and put an inch tall piece of tubing in it with a small hole drilled on the side so it doesn't whirlpool. Then I put an inline filter under the cover between your legs, so 2 bolts takes cover off to access filter, and it's not under the hood to cause vapor lock.

Bypassed the pump on all the Kohlers on mowers and went to low pressure electric pump and no more problems . Tank on NH machines plastic and under rear seat area and about close to level of pump
