Hudco's question about chroming the grill on his D17 got me thinking.   What did the aluminum hood panels look like when they came from the factory? Were they polished to a mirror finish, or were they dull, with more of a brushed finish?

Painted white with black letters and black outline.

Are you referring to the allis-chalmers nameplate on the hood sides of series 2 D17?

I hope so, because there ain't no aluminum hoods on an A-C.
