From just west of St Louis to Kansas and north into IA. Late plant or replant beans still mostly green and leafy, not going to do those any good.
As picked up the trailer and where been running materials north of here will be interesting to see yields from norther counties and such as IA. Beans hardly shin high, here the normal plantings over knee high, saw some farms around bowling green mo harvesting where trucks did not move much over a days time while seeing beans deposits slowly filling them, pretty obvious yields are just not happening.

Traditionally a hard frost comes to where I live by October 10th. Yesterday October 17th was the first what we call "Killing Frost". We have been dry. 5 combines have burned running soybeans in the area!

Operator managed to unhook the tractor, and pull away.
------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Yesterday morning we had a balmy 26 degrees when I got up; lots of frost outside. Wonder what would cause a round bailer to catch on fire. Our renter has an air compressor on his service truck and usually starts the bean harvest days by blowing the dust from the combine. Often makes quite a cloud for a little bit.

Combines, Mounted Corn Pickers, Round Balers and Skid Steer Loaders are all notorious for catching on fire. Anything that accumulates dust or chaff and has a source of ignition such as a bad bearing, electrical cables or just picking up a rock as a combine can. My Skid Loader burned up because the battery cable shorted out. A friend's Skid Loader burned up because it went into regeneration mode and had a bit of chaff nearby. In dry conditions you can never be careful enough. A few years ago Farmer in the area burned up his 4 wheel drive articulated tractor doing fall tillage on a windy day. Corn husks accumulated in and around the turbocharger and ignited. With the wind fanning the flames and the amount of plastic in the tractor, the tires ignited and before the fire department could get there it was fully engulfed.

It was 27* here in mid MO Wednesday morning, my so-called smart phone had, “Severe Weather Advisory,” on it. Since when is frost a severe weather event? Killed everything but the turnips, they just seem to get better after a frost.
