I recently bought a ‘82 8070. Equipment has small 1000 pto. Can the large pto be swapped out for a small pto? Or do you have to do the 540/1000 conversion to make this work? Have researched and not sure if I just am missing it? The previous owner used a pto adapter and the splines are pretty worn out, so would like to change out pto shaft.

Does it just have the small 1000 or can you unbolt the shaft and flip it. Never seen an 8070 with just a small thousand. My 8070 has just a large thousand

Sorry, I think I was confusing in my post. My implements are small 1000 and 8070 has the large. Can the large be swapped out with a small in the tractor. It doesn’t have bolts to flip it. We used to have an 8050 and doesn't have the same pto shaft that you could flip.

You have to put the 540-1000 system in

Just a thought, can your Equipment’s yokes be changed out to match the tractor?

You don't have to go to 540/1000. You can get a straight small 1000 from an old 7050 or maybe early 7060.

Yes, but we have a smaller hp tractor with the small 1000 pto and will be sharing equipment.

Ok, so the 7050 or early 7060 would be a direct pto replacement with the smaller pto? Thanks for the info, I will see what I can find.

540/1000 was always an OPTION in those early days. Many of those 7050/60 tractors never had the option ordered, so they have small 1000.
