Hello, I am new to this forum but have a question. I have a opportunity to purchase a 7060 12 spd power shift with a john deer front end loader on it, my question is are they any good for baling 4x5 round bales? I have a vermeer rebel baler and concerned the 7060 is just too much tractor for small baler, dont want to destroy my baler. Also is the powershift good for baling. Thanks for any information. price is 10,500 and shows 1600 or so hours. hour meter supposed be working. its 3 hrs away and i only seen pics and talked to owner

That all sounds good to me. We bale alot with oir 7060 powershift, and love it. We do make bigger bales, 5X6, and you will have more power than you need, but you're not going to hurt your baler, unless you try to bale too fast or do something stupid. I think it'll work good.

Thanks Darrell, how do them big tractors start in cold weather? I unroll hay in the dark every nite on a open station old massey ferguson, just plug it in on a timer, it's ready go when get home from work, but sure gets cold doing it . Already dreading it even though it's very hot now .

If you're going to have a plugged in, it will start right up.

7060 power shift is nearly bullet proof. Good cheap horsepower. Get a manual, read it and bide by it. If you're using it in cold weather, be sure to replace the glass fuel/water separator annually, it will freeze up if you have any water in the lines. Plug it in for 3 hours on a timer and it will start every time. I plug my tractors in even if it only gets down to 40 degrees'. It just makes starting the tractor so much easier.
