Good evening, we bought a 8070 with a bad engine and am trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I know the Cummins swap is probably the most go to answer. Does anyone have a running 426 though that they are looking to part with? Im not opposed to swapping to a 8.3 or even rebuilding this one depending on how bad it is. Have not got it home yet to even see what I am working with. If I could find a decent engine out of a N6 or a 8050 or 8070 I would consider that route.

If it was me, I would rebuild what is there.  At least I will know everything will be 100 percent when done.  A used engine (Allis or Cummins) would be a crap shoot.  On top of that, you would have to try to fit the Cummins fit in the tractor and make everything play nice.

I am also a purist, so that also affects my decision!

I have a 7580 with a Cummins the Allis drivetrain really can’t handle a Cummins.   Dr Allis can get a more scientific answer why.  The carnage gets expensive after a bit.
