Front end gets light when I raise our 6' disc harrow and our place also has a few hills . Been thinking about buying some suitcase weights and having a bracket made that would be about 4" in front of the grill . Tractor has no power steering so I was thinking maybe 300-400 lbs ? Not sure but think our disc/harrow weighs about 900 lbs ? Any thoughts ? Thanks !

If you're not too picky about originality, you can take a rack and weights off of a compact, like a kubota, in a junkyard. Kubota weights are 55 lbs per, weights and racks are not too difficult to find in scrapyards. The Kubota rack requires drilling to fit the 2 holes , in the front of the cast weight that is standard on the d-15. Also might need a coupla bushings, to move the rack out, so's you can remove the grille for cleaning...

If your front tires don't have fluid in them, that is first thing I would do. JMHO, Tracy

A D19 narrow front weight looks cool but only about 90 lbs.
Got one on my D14

Thanks Dave and Tracy! I've been looking at some IH suitcase weights that should work, just not sure how many I need. Want plenty of room between the bracket and grill . Didn't know if loaded front tires would do too much ? Sure be easier . Thanks again

Filling the tires is asking for the rims to rust out. Maybe a MIL seat is in the cards. A couple piece of channel bolted to the side frames with a bar across the front it an easy suitcase weight rack. With iron weights, they can easily be removed when not needed.
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I made a set for my D17. Basically a steel box with rebar welded in then filled with concrete, mounted with steel to the frame. It was cheap, simple, easy - and effective.
