Hello everyone

I have a 6080 that we will be having the engine rebuilt. Have a few questions. I have been trying to acquire parts. Have agco engine kit 79015762. The throw out bearings, pilot bearing, new radiator hoses. I will be ordering clutch this week. Who has the better clutch. Should we get new turbo and who caries them. The pump and injectors will go to Ed for rebuilding.

One big question is main bearings. Or thrust bearing. Over the years of this forum I think iv read. This engine kit i have or agco bearings will be the newer updated heavier thrust bearing. And my tractor will have the older smaller thrust bearing. I thought I read here that if crank is takin out you can do something to block to except the bigger thrust bearing. Is that correct and what has to be done.

History of it. It’s a 84 2wd, unknown total hours of tractor. But signs of being a lot. Has the front thrust bearing kit on front. Iv owned for 13 years and had a good oil change regiment and hasn’t really burned any oil tell just this past fall. But for past 5 years the blow by has gotten worse. It’s like pure exhaust coming out breather hose. It actually starts good and runs pretty smooth.

Am I missing anything

Another question. Iv read on here front plate dowels coming loose. This motor doesn’t have any oil leaks in front plate or cover.

Don't think there's a problem with dowel pins if it has no loader. That's where the trouble begins.

If you haven't already, I'd put a gear reduction starter on it while your this deep into it. Really makes a difference on those tractors.

16:1 kit is a must my last one came from Agco.

The block will have a ridge on the upper side of the thrust brg saddle. It can be filed down easily . The main cap will be fine. It will still need the thrust kit on the front as the crank will not have the thrust area needed even with the new wide thrust flange brg.

I forgot to say.

This tractor has been hard to get into gear. Didn’t see anything obvious when he took apart. Is there a common thing to look for.

Found cracked ring in #4 cylinder. See why she had so much blow by.

He was able to do like tbran said with thrust bearing. So that’s good.

Mike is it grinding when trying to get it in gear? Could be just clutch adjustment needed.

I thought we had tried adjusting it.

Hycapacity suggested adjusting the fingers on clutch. To give it a little more.

And for adjusting the pedal. Mine is cut off with a handle bolted to it.

The guy that’s doing engine called tonight. He Noticed in service book. A note regarding the balancer bearings. If engine is over certain hours and is being rebuilt the balancer bearings should be serviced.

I don’t have book in front of me for exact wording.

But just wondering if any comments on this nowadays.
