| I'm building a 3 inch raised platform/seat suspension kit for a 170 or 175 tractor. Could also be used on a D-17 if desired. Platforms are made of 1/4" diamond plate and sits on top of the existing platforms. No hole drilling needed so far. I've got the plates cut to size and shape. Need to build 3 inch spacers and fabricate the seat suspension parts. Looking for someone who'd like to test it out if you're tired of sitting too low. It's going to require a step to get on and off, so I'll have to build that too. A 3 inch uplift on a 170/175 seat makes seeing over those wide flat top fenders a little nicer. PM me if interested. This subject is interesting. I’m 5’7”short so coming up in the world would give me a better sight picture on my 175. ------------- It's the color tractor my grandpa had! |

| A One-Eighty doesn't sit low compared to a One-Seventy for sure. Too many of these old tractors have neglected and simply worn out seat suspensions and shock absorbers, which causes the seat cushion height to be reduced maybe up to 4 inches. |

| Higher seat position on tractor is always better visibility. But I gotta admit that during cold times(sewing winter wheat with a frosty evening/morning, feeding cattle hay in winter, or planting corn in cool spring, etc...) the D17/170/175s torque tube/trans heat felt really great on the inseams of my boot ankles/legs. If the canvas heat houser was installed, it felt like a mini-sauna sometimes? |

Age vs Height? It would be misleading but is seems I keep growing taller with age in that it seems that I try to pick up something I have dropped and it keeps getting further and further down there!  |

Being tall I have always kept the 170/175/180/185 seats at the high position. No way can I fit in the down position , yes seat base is ALL the may rearward😂. ------------- Blue Skies and Tail Winds Dana |

| NOTICE: The new experimental raised platform and rebuilt/modified seat suspension parts were installed on the test tractor today. Testing will take place over the summer months, but so far the customer and his wife seem to think it is a great improvement over the way it was. Platform was a 2 3/4" lift and the seat suspension frame was raised 2 inches, but the actual seat pan was raised at least 3 inches with a stiffer coil spring. I dropped my tush really hard and could not bottom out the suspension !! Thus far, we got by with no extra mounting step, so we'll see how that works out. Thank you for being the test family !! |

| Maybe down the road I can dress it up a little with bolt-on side panels to cover the gap between upper/lower platforms. No holes were drilled on the tractor to mount the platform lift. The 1 inch seat spring spacer makes up for a tired coil spring, which allows the seats ride height to be much higher and never hit bottom. The spring tension position isn't at the half-way point in the slot adjustment. The spacer is just a piece of 2 1/4" exhaust pipe cut to 1 inch length. The lower seat suspension arm had the usual broken brass bushings. I always replace with full length steel and provide an oil hole on the top. These never break or wear out it seems. In the first picture you can see the 2 inch tall seat suspension spacers that raise up the seat. |

| The nature of a coil spring is that it gets old, it loses its ability to stay at the same length. Seems like a one inch spacer (2 1/4" exhaust pipe) gets the ride height much better to utilize the full travel of the seats suspension, thus creating a senario of not hitting bottom. |
