There's a ton of experience on this board. I have a 'fresh" rebuilt (Cardone) hydrovac to put on my 73 C60  grain truck. Problem is they didn't orient the back half of the can with the front half so the mounting brackets don't square up. It has a welded bracket on the back half of booster can which bolts to bracket on frame rail. The front end of the cylinder has a angled threaded boss which bolts to a second frame rail bracket. They are supposed to be in the same plane and are not! Can I loosen the clamp around the diaphram and slip it to position without damaging anything? Very difficult to find any info on these things. On the one hand I should send it back but if you knew the back story you'd understand why I'm reluctant to do that. Any help appreciated.

Would send back, diaphrams in these are not all that robust, could wrinkle or tear it.

I replaced quite a few hydrovacs on GM / IHC trucks built in 60's to mid 80's. Only once tried to do what you're thinking of, it failed shortly after. Rebuilder refused to warranty, said it'd been tampered with. Employer got to buy it wasn't happy with me.
I'd do what DMiller says, take it back & have them get 1 that fits as delivered to you.

Last 60 series Viking cabover I did the brakes on I wnt through 3 boosters and none would work right . Went to a junk yard and found one on a truck that still had brakes that felt like they worked - pulled the unit and it worked fine for the 3 years I kept the truck , and price was $20 for the used unit, lot cheaper than the rebuilt .

Seen a youtube of a guy who didn't know anything about what he was doing take one apart. The diaphram looked big and simple pinched at seam like an airbrake pancake.....Lets just say it's working for now....

Im betting they could use an adjustment. Sounded like plenty of movement inside there while helper pumped and I bled.
