Hooking up implement Hyd hose couplers has always been difficult on my 200. It looks to have the factory couplers. I have seen video of people just pushing the male coupler in and it snaps right in no problem. Mine does not work as well. With tractor off and work lever to release any pressure and push hose male ball in to do the same I still have to reach in behind the bracket and pull forward on the hose to the point I can see the circle of balls before my male will go in. Am i doing something wrong here? It is a great way to get your hand all nasty right from the get go.

No, that is the type of coupler that is OEM supplied on AC 200 & 185 tractors. I've 1 of each. You need to reach in behind grasp hose and move coupler towards you to insert male 1/2 of coupler.

On some of the break-away type couplers they have a tab/lever that moves the coupler to you to allow easier inserting male 1/2. My 200 has this style on both pairs the 185 on only 1 pair. Both styles were optional equipment from what I remember being told 20+ years ago.

You can solve this problem permanently by replacing both OEM male and female couplers with the properly sized and fitted Pioneer hose couplers! Use the ball end couplers, not the pointy end type(pointy ends leak more). Find at many farm supply stores and dealers. We did this more than twenty years ago on our 170 and 175 and have been happy with Pioneer since!!!

Thanks for the replies. Yep, I got the reach in behind type for sure. I am going to make changes on at least the side I use most before next hay season.

Not all Pioneer couplers are that way, so make sure the release coller moves both directions before you buy. MACK

You probably are good. . . but. . .is all the pressure off your implement you're hooking up? If you were to say push the hose onto the drawbar or something, does the ball depress, or does it spurt oil under pressure?

Are the hose connections the same as on the tractor? Balls on hose end also, or the point style?

Thanks for the comments. Going to solve this issue pretty easy. I only use one side since I am now using an electric tie baler so ordered two new pioneer couplers, male and females, 2 sets, and using a very short 1/2 inch nipple will plug those into the tractor remotes and plug my hoses into the add on ones so all I have to do is push the sleeve back, which is out in the open and easy to grip and keep clean. Thought about redoing the entire setup with Pioneer lever operated like I put on my Oliver but this will work fine and I don't have to mess with taking the originals off and possible trouble there. The original ones will still provide breakaway if needed. $58 dollar solution to easy hookups.
