I've been researching the history of the Terre Haute Works, and I have started to write my findings. This is part 1 of the history, and there will be a few more posted in the near future. You can subscribe to get them to your inbox, or wait for me to post them on here. I've been working on this one for a little over a year--on and off. I've made several trips to to the Milwaukee County Historical Society, reached out to people in Terre Haute, reached out to other institutions with documents relating to the works, and dug through a ton of newspaper articles. Neat - I didn't know they actually made some electrical equipment there after the failed jet components attempts. You'll probably touch on this in part 2 but JI Case bought the plant and made construction equipment there for a couple of decades, and then I can't remember if it was something else before Great Dane bought it. When you look at aerial photos over the years, there was a good sized building just east of the plant that doesn't look like it lasted 20 years before it was torn down. | I also add my thanks to you for researching and sharing this. I use to be able to find the histories on other Allis plants that you wrote but they seem gone now. I thought that when something was posted to the internet it was there forever. |

That building was de-constructed and hauled to the West Allis Works and put back together. It is still there, I’ve been in it. ;) ------------- "Better By Design" |
