Bad news on the 8070. Started it today and had a tapping in the bottom end.
Think I might have spun a rod bearing. Going to get the pan off in the next couple days and see whats going on

Sorry to hear that the 8070 has noise of trouble... Hope nothing serious.

Awesome. Somehow my plow is different than those plows. The front wheel on my plow is directly outside the tractor wheel so i cant run dual wheels. Looks like the tube the hitch is attached to om my plow is shorter

I was bouncy Ed. I had methonol put in the tired that morning and they put too much air in them. I didnt take time to let them down cause it would need to jack it up to get the valve stems to thr top. Ill do it while its in the shop to see about the bearings. Ill let you know what i find

I don't think these plows were designed to be pulled with duals on the tractor. These are pretty old plows and I think they probably came out in the late 60's. Mine is a 3000 plow as well. I cant hardly turn right at all with the duals on but in a big field I can pull it with large headlands. Next time I pull it I will yank the duals off. As far as the colters go. I have no recommendation on repair of them. Mine are not the rubber mounted type. I would suggest finding a scrap plow and just robbing some others off.

Ive got lathes snd milling machines so I thought id make the coulters into a spring type ive got too much to do thats more important. Maybe a dead of winter project

I have the same 7 furrow 3000 plow but with hydraulic resets. Hope to try it on my 220 fwd . I think they are a very rare plow.

Back in "the day", the D-21 was touted as a 7-bottom tractor and the mighty 220 Land Handler was 8-bottoms.

Had a neighbor buy new 220 with         8 bottom reset plow. used for a few years, then got a 440 with 3 point, used plow with that for several years.

I have a 7 bottom toggle trip and one with hydraulic reset.  My grandpa bought the toggle trip plow new and we used to pull it with a 210.

I believe its fine. I pulled the #2 rod cap and the bearing is fine. Im going to put a set of rod bearings in while im in it.
Ill know for sure next week when the bearings get here

I hadnt thought about the dampener but it is my understanding on 7080s and 8070s is a fluid dampener and they dont go bad

Im not sure what sound you are hearing with your engine or what rpm etc but the ambac injection pump leaves a bit to be desired. If its never been rebuilt its probably time. The governor inside them is very toutchy. My 8070 with the ambac pump had a strange sound i noticed when roading it at around 1600-2000 rpm. the governor would quiver and very quickly fuel and defuel causing some black puffs from the exhaust and a really strange sound from the cab. It was quick. probably 3-5 times per second it sounded almost like a misfire on one cylinder. turns out it was the injection pump governor quivering. Just a thought. Hope it helps

They are silicone filled but there is nothing that says they can't go bad. Have seen pics of cut open ones that the silicon was "dried" out.
