Guys, I live 1.5 miles off this county highway. If you guys ever visit Madison County please bee careful. This highway lives up to its name. I just got back from Walmart, about 45 miles one way. Saw/dodged at least 24 of the dang white tailed slimy things. Please bee careful if your in the Roseman Covered Bridge area in Madison County Iowa. I just cringe when I see posts on the net about people planting deer plots. Heck every time a farmer plants anything here, its a deer feeding plot. Plant 30 acres of been and the outside 5 or 6 acres will bee devoured by those slimy critters. |

It is the same here. Which is why I now bow hunt them. Deer bow season here goes from Oct 1-Jan 15, except during firearm seasons. We have 1-3 does plus their yearlings bedding down in our front yard/back yard probably half the week nights. Some mornings when I wake up early to pee @ 3~4am, I’ll see deer 10-20’ from our house. They browse on fur trees, lawn, flowers, then bed awhile, stand up from bed, poop in yard, & saunder off before legal hunt time. Seems more does are having twins? |

Many years ago we solved our deer problem of the trashing our cornfields by planting small plots of Indian corn in areas that were generally harder to get the combine into. They seemed to prefer the Indian corn over the field corn and did very little damage to the field corn on farms we had the Indian corn plots. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Several years ago, there was a story circulating around about an insurance agency in a town here in North Dakota that was turning in an unusual number of claims on vehicle/deer collisions. One of the insurance companies decided it was time to send an auditor out to investigate for fraud. As the auditor got near to the destination town, he collided with....you guessed it, a deer. I guess that case of fraud was closed about as fast as it was opened. Darrel |

I have to put snow fence around my rododendron and azalea bushes and any small trees we have to keep the deer from eating the blooms and small limbs. we hardly every see them cause they are through here at night.

| Everything I plant gets the plastic snow fencing put around it. Sons and grandsons planted sweet corn patches last spring, fenced it using the DNR's fencing plan. It didn't work, the deer went over, under and thru the fence, destroyed their 3 patches of sweet corn. I bought 20 dozen ears of sweet corn and froze it. |
