Kinda like the people(mostly men) that will be walking around outside in January, wearing shorts but have on a parka?

One of the great mysteries of life. Confused But what would I know. Wink I wear long salve shirts all year even the 110 degree days.  With the low humidity any shade is good.LOL Because you hold my summer shirts up close you can see right thru them. Just a wee bit of protection from the sun. Wink Like a top on the car.LOLLOLLOL

Well I sorta do that, not a parka, but a sweatshirt.  BUT for the record, p.g. rated, I have been told that I am dead from the waste down!!  LOL

Put the windows up to provide some security and prevent theft from reaching inside the vehicle.

It prevents me from reaching in and turning on the wipers, hazards, headlights, radio and moving the seat all the way forward.

What it does, is prevent airflow from the windshield from coming around the side of the A-pillar and buffetting against your ears.  It's a common thing on small convertibles.  I had a Sunbeam Tiger convertible that was great fun to drive, but anything over 45mph with top and windows down, and it'd hammer the hell out'a your ears, and knock your sunglasses right off.

Similar situation occurs with airplane wingtips-  air flowing under the wing is under higher pressure than the top, so out toward the wingtip, air pressure will slip 'out' and over the tip of the wing, towards the top.  If you watch an aircraft landing in a misty rain, you'll see the wingtip vorticies from that air pressure.

Having the convertible top UP closes off the back of the passenger compartment, and thus, the air pressure is forced to curl 'behind' the driver and passenger.  The other solutions include a wind barrier BEHIND the driver and passenger seat (does the same) or space the windshield and body out far enough so that the 'curl' of turbulence misses the driver and passenger by a foot or two.

I think Gary is right but I would also put the top up , but that's just me and I'll never own a Maserati. Thanks

I think Dave Kamp missed the point of your question entirely!

Not much wind flowing when the driver is in the Restaurant.

the owner was riding around like that, for the reason DK provided, parked, hoped out and left it that way.

I don’t know if it matters about the windows being up but my brothers corvette has a factory security system that if the doors are locked and the top is out of the car if you reach down into the car the alarm will go off.

Go back and read the original post Lou.

It's pretty self explanatory.

No riding around town with the windows up!

That could be the case too, but if they say he 'rolled up the windows and got out', he probably did it for another reason...

Because, if he didn't roll them up before going inside, they might not roll up when he came out later!  LOLLOL

[Italian cars are so temperamental, that Lord Lucas wouldn't sell them his electrics!]

He may have done that just so that if he had to run out and put the top up to avoid a cloudburst, that having the windows up would be one less thing to do, but it's also likely he did that just to keep people from spitting or throwing trash into his car.  Some people do things like that, especially if they see a fancy car. Ermm
