I bought a cab from Iowa to replace the cab on my 7040. In the process of putting it on I discovered what appears to be a midland cb radio installed on top of the cab under the cab top. It is wired through a plug to the am/fm radio. It doesn’t appear to be factory installed but I am confused as to how it plugs into the am/fm radio like it was all made as a unit. The cb radio was installed with no access to the unit which doesn’t have any external switches or knobs. Does anyone remember seeing these units? The midland unit is dated 1977.

Am/Fm radio CB combo units were offered during the CW McCall song "Convoy..." craze of mid-late 1970s. GM's Cadillac/Oldmobile cars offered them, among other mfg too. A CB transmitter & CB microphone were plugged into the rear of such Am/Fm radio/CB combo units. Look for a CB channel select switch on the front of the am/fm CB radio unit to allow a person to switch functions from am/fm to CB??

Thanks for the reply, I looked at it today and yes there was a switch that slides to use the cb. I don’t know if any of it works but I probably should box it up and save it in case anyone would be interested in it.
