Does anyone have a tool or made a tool to remove the heavy duty snap rings from the Oxnard blade? I can get the one off holding the tongue in but the large square one underneath is a bear!

2 screwdrivers ??
never touched the square one...does it hold the blade on
if so might be easier to turn blade upside down to work on it ?

Two screwdrivers won't touch the square one underneath the arch holding the blade on. I did some searching and haven't found a good tool yet to release it and install it back on. I have some snap ring pliers for straight tipped rings but they're not heavy enough.

I purchased a very heavy duty set of snap ring pliers from NAPA.   They are used to remove snap rings inside automatic tranys. This NAPA store has been owned by the same family since 1929. If you get some youngster, they may not know about them.

Any pictures of those pliers? I cannot find anything for square rings.

Will have to have a look at my blade and see which snap-ring you're struggling with. I have snap-ring pliers, lots of them and different styles. Maybe don't have a pair that would work for this?

Original main beam rings have no holes for any sort of pliers, just mitered ends. I strongly suggest safety glasses and a face shield. I broke one that the missing piece is still in orbit

These are Blue Point. Something like that maybe?

Those pliers look good but for the square ring underneath you sort of need a large piston ring plier so it doesn't slip off and go flying. I haven't been able to locate anything yet...

I will take some good pictures as I have my second blade apart not for painting after some welding. I'll get out to the garage after work today.

JD has a tool for removing the snap rings on the ends of axles, it is not a pliers type but uses a draw bolt to expand the snap ring.

Here are pictures of the heavy square profile snap ring that holds the blade onto the beam. I believe it may be called an 'Eaton Closed Section Ring'

So how'd you get it out?

I used a pocket flat blade screwdriver under one end of the ring the worked a round chisel against the arch and snap ring until it rolled off. It wasn't easy but it came. I'd like to find the tool for these heavy rings if anyone has any ideas.

I found a source for the large snap ring that holds the tongue onto the beam assembly. It is McMaster-Carr part # 95524A157. This is a spear-ended snap ring for 2-3/4" OD bar. Good thing is, you get 5 in a pack when you order.

I am still looking for a source for the thicker ring that holds the blade and arch onto the lower part of the beam assembly.
