Talked with a "group leader/foreman" of a local RV (towables) plant that just put $20,000 worth of hydraulic hoses/fittings into the dumpster this morning due to mis-measurements/missing parts. Just WHERE do we as a consumer draw the line at BLATANT manufactures screwing ??
No, I do NOT own an RV and never will, my father retired from and my brother currently works for that realm of life and the stories they can/do tell WinkWink !!

Happens every day in the working world. 7-8 years ago electricians at work had a bunch of wire they no longer wanted. They marked the rolls with spray paint and we took forklift to get the rolls in scrap metal dumpster. Filled a good sized scrap dumpster some of the wire bigger than my wrist.

Not worth it to screw around for a large business.... $20K is less than 1 day profit... Forget it !!

Big Business is 'Inventory tax' hit for everything they purchase and do not utilize where is cheaper in the long run to scrap it and take the tax reduction write off.

Saw components in the Utility Stores Warehouses get labeled with inventory tags, Expiration Date Coded so as tax destroyed any remaining value by time of the component ownership it was sent to TRASH regardless value as a repair part.

when I ran our remote energy control company, found out our 'panels', which we leased, were inventory, when they came back. Any inventory is an 'asset', get TAXED on it !
Arrgh.... it took me 3 years to 'reduce our inventory' to ZERO.....
understand the 'toss into bin'. just where would the company store those hoses while trying to resell? They'd take up warehouse space PLUS a lot of labour $$$ to handle them, and how LONG would you keep the, collecting dust on the shelves ??
local firm routinely tosses out steel. I got 75" of I-beams for free, including delivery !, as some engineer changed the specs for them !
