Put some stuff on Craigslist yesterday and within minutes, got a text from someone wanting to buy it. Wanted me to confirm I was not a scammer by sending a reply showing a six digit security code from Google. DONT DO IT!

They take the phone number you place on a public site.....like Craigslist or FacePlant market place........then they enter that number into a google site, to get the 6 digit code. If you send that back to them, they can then gain access to your phone and all data on it, plus no telling what all else.

Put me in charge and I'd give all the identity thieves, phishers, scammers, and robo callers the Bin Laden treatment. Authorize the CIA to find them, then send in the SEALS to do a snuff film. Gotta keep those boys sharp!

modirt... you got a point..... if a few muggers, rapist, robbers, thieves were EXECUTED or TERMINATED... might send a warning to others !....... and it sure cuts down on the REPEATERS !

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Yes......I gots to think that a good chance of getting whacked would take the fun out of it completely. With no consequences.......why not live it up after you have ruined other peoples lives?

But again, be aware this is a scam. I suspected something was off right away. Conversation quickly fell apart. But they were persistent. Went so far as to call me a scammer  because I wouldn't send them the code.

Caught onto those types as tried to advertise the Fat Allis and used furnishing back some time ago.  They also run a dupe will send a check for the machine or goods, along with enough to pay shipper THEY SEND, just have to pay them as pick up materials.  Yeah Right, not buying that either.  Third party or Different name check, even state will come as signed by someone else, big SCAMS!!!!

When it comes to craigslist ads (I have rental properties so "For Rent" ads) I only use emails at a special craigslist only email which gives my first name but only last name initial. Only after several communications to see if they are real and interested in the property does my phone number come into play.

I would say about 1/4 of the replies are scammers, some have even been willing to pay a extra fee and send an "agent" to pick up my rental property at my convivence.

When I am the buyer emails only also. If the first reply is "text me" at this number I respond back that I only have a landline and email me back.
