There's been "multiple" posts/topics on NAT about Harbor Freight "endowments"  . What a bunch of BS to "slam" a company that according to a previous post in the same forum. HB is leaps and bounds ahead of the "USA MADE" (pretty sure none are) power tools . Why is a company's choice of where they put $$ into a certain area a reason to BOYCOTT them ???

Harbor Freight has been known for years for selling CHEAP Chink Tools..... I have a 30 inch cresent style wrench that i paid about $25. for 20 years ago.. Same wrench from Cresent or Snap On was over $100. .... I use that wrench 3-4 times per year. It is fine for that use........ I dont buy sockets or wrenches from Harbor Freight.. Use to be junk... May be a lot better now 20- 30 years later............. That being said, i needed a generator for emergency use... Bought a 8000 watt unit, 13 HP CHINK motor for $525. Comparable units from "OTHERS were $1000 - $2000. again , i only use it a couple times a year.. Really impresses with the motor and carb.. Let it set 4 months, pour in 2 quarts of gas, choke and pull it 1-2 times and its running... NEVER got that out of the old BRIGGS gen. ........... If your buying tarps, 8 inch wheelbarrow tires, 1/4 inch air grinders.. you just cant beat the price at Harbor.... and others that sell are similar brand and quality.. NOT USA MADE.

| I bought 4.5 " angle grinder from Lowes. Used it about 15 minutes grinding on this dang cement floor. It burnt up. Lowes would not take it back and trade it for a new one, they said I had to "send it in". I left it in the hands of the store manager, went home and found my old HF 4.5" grinder. I spent hours using it along with the diamond wheel grinding an old seal coat off this floor. I figured it would collapse in my hands. Its still going. Going to put the floor coating on tomorrow afternoon. I use Hf drill bits but when drilling metal you might want to have a spare or two. |

I replaced a craftsman multi tool that burned up after 2 days of cutting siding and trim on my house with one from HF, the HF one is still going years later. I have several sets of their $9 drill bits and also wrenches and sockets. I think the quality of the drills and some of the other tools has gotten better. That being said, I don't make my living using those tools except I do carry 2 in my work box, a circuit tracer and a chain breaker, I don't use it to break roller chain, works great to drive pins out of struts on small equipment. ------------- Maximum use of available resources! |

| i've used HF's sockets for years on my impact's, none have ever broken. i've been told by several people that their generators (preditor) are first generation honda generators. and HF is now selling Craftsman tools, i think they are now made in china . HF does sell quality tools and junk tools just like ACE and BOMGAARS and TSC and others. just gotta know what you are buying. HF'S $19. angle grinder has outlasted my dewalt grinder, and it has done some pretty nasty grinding. |

Steve, I happened to yank the cord out of my Predator garden tiller HF (black) motor. It now sports a red Honda replacement pull start unit.  |

Most everyone rates their own bank account Number One Priority while bad mouthing “chinks”. Hey, they’re just beating us at our own game. Fighting wars are painful, even economic ones. But I’d rather feel the pain in my bank account than in my heart for the loss of a son, neighbor or friend. And it is a choice I’ve made my whole life rather I use it 10 minutes a year or daily. I work in American manufacturing. Why would I contribute to slitting my own throat? |

| I've bought several grinders and other similar things. Not an everyday usage is fine as in a work situation. Really put the screws to it, will hold up for awhile. For the money I don't complain. |

Many times its not a choice between CHINA and AMERICAN.. Too many things are NOT made in the USA... You look at something from Menards, local Hardware Store or HF and they may all be the same thing with a different NAME PLATE... Or one is China, one is Mexico one is Viet Nam, and one is Japan............ NONE are USA... that is the problem.

there was a recent tv 'reality show' about Milk tools... 'made in usa'.. I hear ya Tbone... I do what i can to stay away from China stuff, but its hard sometimes to find other.. When you ORDER you dont have much idea where its made. If you can see it BOX in the STORE, you got some idea.... I have NEVER bought a foreign car.. never will. Heck... when i buy on e-bay i normally AVOID vendors from Kalifornia !!... If i can get the same thing from somewhere in the Mid West or South, i do that !!!!  ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

I buy most of my tools at yard sales and auctions. I won't kick a HF tool outta the box, just because its HF, but I don't go lookin for 'em. I do buy a couple replacement items from them like drill bits, dremel bits, cut off wheels, and the best drill press attachment I have ever bought, a vee block aluminum jig, that lets you drill through the center of a pipe or rod. It was half the price of the ones from the big box stores, and made in the same place, I bet! | I have owned 3 of the Harbor Freight $20 angle grinders and won't buy another as they don't last. I have 3 angle grinders.1 for grinding 1 for cutting. 1 for wire brush. My current angle grinders are Ryobi,Skil and Walmart Hyperforce. They have lasted longer than Harbor Freight. On the other hand I own 2 cordless Harbor Freight impact wrenches. 1-3/8 and 1/2 . Both have given me good service. The 1/2 I carry when hauling hay in case of a flat tire on my trailer. Harbor Freight more expensive tools are better quality. I would buy made in America tools if they were truly made in America and weren't so expensive. |

Don’t know where every supplier donates to but the AT link clearly showed HF leans hard to the left. | A search of tools made only in America shows Estwing,Leatherman and Klein tools. I recently bought a Klein multi meter when my Chinese built Craftsman failed. As for Abortion I'm not in favor nor do I like Governor Whitmer. I believe a persons choice in tools is their own.This post was about tools and Harbor Freight. |

I for one, very seldom think of HF when it’s tool buying time. Up until just the last few years, I never lived close enough to a HF store, to ever think about them. To this day, I don’t consider HF when the need is apparent, just don’t consider HF, out of habit. ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

Earlier this fall, my lovely Bride and I took an ‘in state vacation’ to Waco, visited the ‘Magnolia’ complex of shops, and stores operated by the company owned by Chip & Joanna Gaines, lots to see and very enjoyable. Approximately 40-50% of the merchandise for sale in all those shops were ‘Made in China’. Wife and made a concentrated effort, and did not purchase any items ‘Made in China’ ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

Hay Freedguy is it your writing skill or is it our reading comprehension. Only one person replied to your question. Another one I will not give a answer for cause you would not like it anyway. I do have some insight though. My son did landscape design work for the son of the HF company founder about 15 years ago. The kid was talking freely of trying to take over company and kick dad out. The kid had no vision and wanted a model built of what his yard would look like. My son was familiar with building such models from computer generated plans. The company he worked for mostly worked for cities doing redevelopment with tax money. Cities like paying big money for things like models to show what would change. So my son built a model for the kid. Then the kid wanted cars in the driveway. So my son bought small toy cars. But they where built to a different scale than the building. Since it was a by the hour job my son built a second model that was the same scale as toy cars. If I remember the kid stopped calling about then, out of money or having to much fun playing with his cars. But the firm my son worked for was restructured in the recession of 06-08. Good old Gov Moombeam stole all the cities redevelopment tax money. Son changed to computer tech work, from landscape design.So have fun figuring why giving to a woke political party might keep me from buying a companies product.
