I purchased a 66 D17 with the Factory 3 point. Recently operated the the 3pt and noticed oil coming out of the left cylinder pretty good. Upon inspection, someone had damaged the end cap and welded a couple of beads to hold the cap in place. Well appears to me it may be junk at this point or cost a fair amount to repair. All states Ag has a set in stock, but the cylinders they have are larger than mine. He said the parts manual has Version 1 & 2. I assume version 2 is the larger cylinder. I have the smaller cylinders. They appear as though they would fit as the length and overall size seems the same. Just a bigger cylinder. I am at a crossroads. I would rather not replace both cylinders in hopes they work to find out they do not. My gut is telling me to just keep my eyes peeled for the correct cylinder. I can still use the one i have just leaks.

They are not larger is barrel diameter or lifting power. The rods are larger in diameter due to a completely different design. They will work if they are the correct ones for a D-17 S4, 170-175-180-185.

Not sure where you are located(Richmond Va?), local salvage yard near Gettysburg Pa had some on a few carcasses last I was there.

So I could interchange them? No issues created with the hydraulic system? I purchased the left side cylinder. I assume I’d have to do both and cannot just replace the one side with a mis matched cylinder. They had the other matching cylinder for another $170.

You could have one of each kind. Don't see why not. Original looking?? nope. Functional?? YES.
