Had our first locally grown roasting ears on Wed. I bought a dozen ears for $7.00. Ya a dollar higher than last year. As soon as more folks start selling it, price will drop some. Old gal heats it up in the microwave.   Just as good as the corn mom spent all that time boiling. Neighbor picked up a rattlesnake last week. Old gal decided we didn't use our grill near enough so she gave it to youngest son. So I Couldn't BBQ it this time. Another neighbor wants me to cut 30+ acres of hay for him. Usually find a couple of them in his hayfield. Almost wish I still had my flail conditioner, it made short work of them. Lucky the jack Russell hasn't been bitten by one of the dang cut off heads. She used to drag them up to the house after they been thru the conditioner. Eagles also will swoop down and pick them up outta the hay fields.

That sweet corn sounds good. Since we discovered the microwave for corn we haven't used any other way of cooking except on the grill if preparing something else there. Great invention that microwave.
Snakes I can't stand. When I was little, maybe 5 yrs., I thought a snake was chasing me in a hayfield. Dad was cutting about all grass and not through a conditioner. As I stepped on it the other end would raise a bit so the "snake" was always just a couple of feet away. I ran the whole way to the house, which was about 1/4 mile. Scared the bejeebers out of me. Sounds funny now but wasn't so much then.
Hope you enjoy your sweet corn.

Yep, microwave is the only way to go.  You just leave it in the husk and do it 2mins and turn 180 and 2 mins.  ALL the husk and silk just fall off then.  SOOoooo easy!

Use to catch rattlers, we got paid a bounty from the county.  All we had to do was turn in the rattles,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so we cut them off and let the snake go to grow more for next time.  Was pretty good money back then.  Came TOO close to getting bit so many times.  Musta been nuts...

Was working in my shed when momma mourning dove came out of my blue spruce tree  I had been watching her and her 3 babies grow up.  Looked in the nest and a 3 1\2' snake was just finishing off the last baby.  Hope he enjoyed his last supper.
