After my recent purchase of a 160. I cant help but think of a tilt hood on my 190XT. The tilt hood on the 160 is so handy and gives easy access to the engine. Removing the straight pipe to tilt the hood is no big issue, and adapting the air cleaner really doesn’t seam like a big obstacle. I haven’t looked into the mounting of the hood pivot points yet. Just something I’m gonna investigate some time. Anyone else thought of doing this? I have already modified my grill, got rid of the terrible design latches and bolted the grill to the hood so I wouldn’t have it come unlatched and run over it like so many have done. Grills are about non existent. I have though about this at length. Grill would have to stay removable. Hood would have to pivot up slightly before it tilted forward, (to clear radiator neck) which means can't do a single hinge point. Hinge linkage would have to be between hood and front radiator side supports, which would remain stationary to hold the radiator. I would use door shock type absorbers to keep hood in tilt position and a quick release system on rear of hood to hold it back down. Of course the voltage regulator would have to be relocated and the dash cover could hinge rearward like on the 170/175. Alex, forgot about the radiator neck, so good point there. Wonder how much that opening would have too be enlarged to prevent a double hinge? Wish I had a junk 190 to play with, really don't want to do trial and error on my painted XT lol! Removing 4 bolts to remove the grill is no big deal. I don’t have the front weight on it and without looking at mine at the moment I’m thinking my grill is beyond the front end. Like I saiid, I will look at it at the farm. No, but nothing through hood. Ex out the side, no radiator. You could always extend regulator wires to pivot and back. Attach cowling at front with two small hinges. Use latches like grill at back of hood. Put cross braces in front of radiator to support front (like 170). MACK

Been contemplating this for several years now for my 210 puller. The pipe on a puller is easy enough, just make the pipe a stub off the turbo, then bolt a larger one to the hood that tilts with it, then sits down over it, and a metal plate seals it up some. Not sure it would be good on a stock farm tractor though lol! Been trying to figure a simple way to make a hinge at front hidden behind grill. | Have to confess I do have a red tractor in my farm fleet, CIH 7110 to be exact, the hood on them does tip forward on a compound hinge, that may provide some assistance with the fabrication. Good luck and post pictures along the way |

 Will try to get a better picture but this is the hinge assembly for the tilt hood on my 160. Very simple design. This design would require the grill, front hood side shields, and hood be wielded together. Sure makes maintenance easy and not difficult to remove the hood. 4 bolts and it can be removed. On a 190, make a new bracket to mount the electrical components on so they can be removed from the hood. If I had my 160 before I painted my 19XT, I would have been willing to try this. The grill extends beyond the front bolster so that would not be an issue.
