I am in the process of rebuilding my 3 section hydraulic pump on my 190xt III. I was able to get all the gears and plates and everything i needed from AGCO, however I will have nearly as much into this pump as i will into my engine overhaul. Anyway my A-C service manual states that a Loctite sealer should be used in between each section when assembling. So I'm just wondering exactly what i should use? It states to put it just inside the bolt holes of each gear plate.

Use a very small amount of red Loctite.          MACK

I used loctite 515 on the last one I did.

We have rebuilt dozens, never used anything with the new type seals.  IF a  pump has blown out we check them on a flat glass and fine wet sand paper to make sure they are flat.

I'm with you thran, I never use any sealer . It's  good insurance for a first timer.            MACK

Would it have been cheaper to buy a new pump? I have no idea on the cost of rebuilding that pump but my 200 was kinda rebuilt by a AGCO dealership. They resealed it, but no other parts, and they flushed the system supposedly and new oil and filter and replaced a hose that goes to the oil cooler and my bill was $2000. A new pump is $2000 from AGCO. I didn't expect that cost and I wish I would have just bought the new pump and did all the rest myself.

Only replacement pumps available are from A&I i believe and they're $2300. They also do not have bearings in them.   Just bushings and they don't last is what i was told.

It would be interesting to follow up on that claim of "don't last as long".  I know of quite a few older 190/190 XT's (this is the pump we are talking about) that may have went 5,000 hrs without any failures and when they did it was probably just a reseal job or a blown section plate, not a bearing rebuild. A tractor that had a loader on it and was used everyday would be a real test unit. None of these 50 yr old tractors get the usage they did 50 yrs ago, so if that new pump only lasted 3,000 hrs, that would be a LONG time in my books. The hydraulic pumps on many of the Gleaner combines (K-F-G) had bushings in them and a belt yanking the shaft/pulley sideways all day long and they seemed to hold up pretty well.
