We have a series 1 D17 with 18-4-26 tires and spin out rims. Was this an option or did someone take D14-15 spin out center and put a18x26 rim on it? This is the only one i have seen.It makes a real nice tire for the tractor.

The early D17's had 14.9x28 tires standard. Later ones 16.9x28 was a option.

What size are the front tires?

D17s were never offered with 18.4 x 26 tires, although later models could be had with 18.4 x 28 tires. I have never seen a 26" power adjust rim wide enough to accept an 18.4 tire either. 18.4 x 26 is a popular size of combine tires on fixed width rims though.
I would like to see a picture.

I have a D 15 that has rice features and has the same wheel on the rear as you describe.

The D17 parts book lists a 14-26 (new size 16.9X26) tire for Grove tractors. Nothing is said about rim with , but a 18.4X26 tire would go where a 16.9X26 tire was
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

But, unless there is something really special about a 26 inch power shift wheel, it will not clear the final drive on a D-17 when spun clear in. A 26 inch fixed wheel works, but spin out doesn't.

After getting the tire off the tractor the rim has been split and 7 inches have been added to the inside making a total 18 inches outside to outside. With no rails on the inside the tire can be moved in till it almost hits the finder. The tractor has a 170 picker on it and the wheels shifted all the way clear it by an inch. The rims look to have been modified by a shop or skilled welder. This size tire is great for traction and flotation.
