I am trying to do some research on the D-19 i love the looks of that tractor and i would like one one day.. I know the diesels had issues with the cylinder sleeves and head gaskets leaking .. is there any issues with the gas engine? ? Is there other issues I need to be aware of with these tractors? ? Is there a good place to go that can tell me the good things and the bad things about the D-19 tractors? ? |

| Gas engines were pretty good as long as they were full of fuel. The negatives: seats sits too low for the hood height.....hydraulics were poor at 5 GPM........hydraulics weren't "live"........power steering wasn't hydrostatic.........Power Director clutch speed change way too much.........possible 3rd gear jump out issue....... |

We bought a D19 gas about 1969 from the original owner,ran that tractor steady until up to about 2010,overhauled it once.I loved it great tractor,handled good as far as the seat it had two positions a high and low,didn't burn anymore gas than any tractor that size and really for what it would do was cheaper to run than our WD45.It had a factory front pump giving it live hydraulics.As good or better as other tractors built in 1963 in my opinion.As far as the high/low speeds I liked it a lot better than the 190XT I had and the 180 and 185 I have now.I let a fellow have it that used to help us on the farm way back and he is putting it back like brand new. |

| My aunt had a D-19 gas for a lot of years. Was their loader tractor, baling tractor and haylage wagon tractor. Governor was to quick for the blower. Would take the sheer pins out. I know it was over hauled once and I think the trans was worked on a couple of times. |

| A very handy tractor. Got our 19 back online a couple of years ago. Runs like a top again, but drinks gas. Between it and our series IV, they have been the only two on the farm for the past thirty five years doing every odd job asked of them. I am biased, but I like ours. The front pump would be a great upgrade on the hydraulics. One day...hopefully soon. |

I liked mine for the comfortable ride and being quiet running engine. I never had any trouble with it but the hydraulics leave a lot to be desired as does the power steering when it has a loader. I need to resurrect mine sometime too. Me too Darrel! First tractor I ever bought was my D19. Bought it my senior year in high school from the local CaseIH dealer in 1987. That was the only complaint my Dad had about the D19 he had for awhile. His complaining diminished a little bit after he actually compared it's fuel usage with the Oliver 770 we had and taking into account just how much more work the D19 was capable of too. ------------- "My name is Lionel and I'm an Allisoholic" |

| If one uses Nebraska test as the source of information, you'll soon see that every brand of gas tractor at 70 PTO HP used a lot of gas. The D-19 wasn't really any better or worse, it was just a lot more than a D-17. |
