Looking at an Allis 8050 and it has a pretty good hydraulic leak dripping from the pto shaft, how big of job is this to change the seal?

If it has just the 1000 PTO then you can get the seal from the back.  If it has 540/1000 you have to drain rear end oil, drop that rear cover/plate and you will see both gears and a large nut.  Remove the wire and pin, back off nut then you can remove shaft to replace seal.  Mark where the old nut was as there is a slight preload on the bearings in there.

After you remove nut, use slide hammer to remove inner shaft. Then remove bolts behind outer flange. Then pry shaft assembly out, catching the two gears and thrust bearings.        MACK
