I recently bought a 1950 Allis chalmers WD, it’s a good running tractor till the hydraulic pump went out. I took it in and had it rebuilt and upon installing the unit back on the bucket went up about 3 feet and stopped. The three point sucked all the way up and didn’t want to go back down. I don’t know much about hydraulics so I called in reinforcements (my cousin) he’s a diesel mechanic and knows a little more than I do about hydraulics from his schooling at Nashville Auto Diesel School. We started with trying to adjust the long and short rods and noticed the lever linkage would not go past a 1/4 linkage stroke. We knew something wasn’t right, so we took off the unit and noticed the linkage bars inside looked funny but neither of knew exactly if they were wrong or not. I cross checked the manual and the blow up of the pump diagram. I attached a photo of the linkage bar we think is “ off time” as my cousin said.

I would guess you have a spool valve that is sticking. 1/4 stroke is about what it moves.        MACK

I appreciate your input and advice, I’m not familiar with this tractor as I’ve only had for about 2 months. The pump went out without any warning, exactly what is the “ spool valve” I’ll try to attach the video I made to so you what the 1/4 stroke I’m talking about.
