| I'm pretty sure 14.9-28 is correct for the WD45 but I have seen a few used sets of 16.9-28 advertised locally. Has anyone run a tire this big or are these too tall? |

| been running 16.9's on wd45 for a lot of years' works good for tractor rides also. more ground speed also if needed. |

You can put 16.9s on, but you would need to use wider rims to go with them. Mounting them on the standard size rims, the entire tread pattern will not properly contact the ground - only the center of the tread will. Regarding rim width. They are suppose to be on 14 - 15 wide rims. I have my D 17, 16.9 tires on 13" wide rims and they work really well at 14 lb, pressure with 400 lb, per wheel weights. I also put 16.9's on my 850 Ford, with 13" rims. I have 700 lb, per side weights on it and run it at 12 lb and it works fantastic. I've seen 16.9's on 12" rims and I think you could get by with it, especially if you can run lower pressures. My D 14, came to me with both 14.9 & 16.9 x 26 tires, both sets on 12" rims but, I haven't run it yet, it has a bad engine but, it doesn't look out of place.  ------------- Frank 1959 D17 Series I #24001+, '59 D14 '55 & '59 Ford 850 & 861 Ferguson TO 35 Deluxe, Oliver 70 and 5 more. |

Here is my D17 with 16.9's. Here is the WD45 with 14.9's  WZ getting 14.9's  Here is a rear end shot:  The 16.9's would work fine, but as mentioned you may need to be at a 14 or 15 inch wide rim. I have 14.9 x 28 firestone on mine on new 13" replacement rims. Looks good. 16.9 may work okay as well. Probably have to run those with rims adjusted out a bit or they will be into the fenders. |

| My father has them on his 45 with 13” rims. Depends on tractor use, will no longer pull 3 16” plows in 3rd gear at all. Depending on ground conditions, 2nd is a struggle. Nice size for raking hay though in 3rd. I have 14.9 on mine and wish I went to the bigger ones. |

| Nick, I have Firestone 16.9 28son my WC also had them on my D17, until I found sone Firestone 18.4 x26's froma gleaner C11 already to go,on 8 bolt wheels. Bigger is good when pulling I could go over the holes guys pulling 13.6 and14.9's left behind. |

LOL Thanks Chris. It's the one I placed 2nd with in last years pull but, with 14.9's and the small (30 lb, 450 lb per side) weights and no enter weights. No pulls this year though :( Those pie weights, were a LOT of work!! I had to first sand blast the extremely rusted mounting plates (I hate sand blasting) and clean up everything else on them. Mounted the inside weights and tires on the tractor, then the pie weights. 45 lb each, doesn't sound like a lot but, there are 24 of them and they barely fit, inside the rims. I painted everything up good, hoping I never have to do it again. As you might have guessed, I'm a big tire guy but, even though I have a set of 18.4 x 26, on Gleaner rims. I can't install them, until I get a wider trailer. 16.9's, on a 17, won't fit on a 6 ft wide trailer. I had to take the 1.5" rails, off the back of mine, to get it to load and it rubs the sides of the fenders that way. A quick little story : When I took my D17 to the pull, last year, I found that it would fit, w/o the rails. It's a 10K, heavy trailer and the deck is exactly 75" wide w/o the rails. I drove it on with about 20 lb of pressure in the tires and had about 1/8 - 1/4" per side clearance. At the pull I lowered the pressure to 14 lb and after loading up, the tires were pushing on both fenders.
