I keep some of that stuff around and use it some.  Since it comes in teensy tubes and ain't cheap, is it the same thing as plumbers grease that comes in big tubes at a reasonable price?

Petroleum jelly. That's my answer and I'm sticking or in this case sliding with it.🙂

Have to ask WHATdo you need it for ? There's a 'dilectric grease' for electrical things like light bulbs and connections.

I will guess that you are buying your dielectric/spark plug grease at the local parts house.  It's a high-profit item there.  I think the tube I got from our local Advance Auto/Autozone was about 1/4 oz.  I can't agree more with you about the price.

Paying that much for such a tiny tube stung, so I looked online at Amazon.  They sell a 3 oz. tube of Permatex 22058 (about 12X larger than what I got at the parts house) for $6.99 delivered to my door.
