Dear Friends, I'm new here and hoping for some help. I'm looking to purchse a Allis Chalmers crawler loader but don't know the year and model. I have yet to see it in person and would like to do some research ahead of time. It looks like it could/might be a model HD-6G? Besides some painted decals or insignias, which I think are gone, will there be any other identification numbers that will positively ID this machine and the year it was made? Supposedly it runs and drives fine. Whats the most I should pay? What major things should I be concerned about and be looking for when the time comes? Thank you in advance, Steve

Ok. Thanks. If dash plaque and serial number are present, is DOM encoded within or is there a listing somewhere that shows DOM by serial #. Thanks.

its not encoded the serial # list will tell what year depending on number. you wont know without the list.

If it runs and operates the next thing is undercarriage condtion. Good tractor but parts will take hunting for so ................ look close at condition.

OK, i brought my books with me today. That machine has the second type of shovel frame which started at serial #11094, third type was introduced at #15791. that should put this machine at mid 59'-mid 62'. should have energy cell head (injector goes in side of head) as the direct inject engines were phased in in 1963.
