Just wondered what type of seat was factory on this tractor and if the spring underneath can get completely worn out to wear when you sit on it it compresses all the way down to nothing or is it adjustable?(as in a collar that can be loosened in compress the spring and retighten the collar to give it more attention when you sit down) or maybe me being 225 has something to do with it? 😉

The original seat itself was a metal pan. The seat suspension was the same from the D-14 thru the D-19. Yes, they certainly get worn out and the coil spring flattens out with age. The spring/shock assembly slides back and forth in a slot to adjust for the operators weight. Should be clear forward and tighten the bolt TIGHT so it doesn't slip.
For the time in history, I think the OEM suspension was very top notch as compared to competitions tractors, but they all wear out with years of use.

Right okay, I didn't think that the seat that was on this was original as it is a cushioned high back with armrest. When you sit down on it it completely bottoms out and has no spring left in it so I was wondering if I could adjust it somehow and utilize what spring is left or it was just once it wears out it's done type thing?

Sounds like the shock absorber is worn out, but some vendors here sell new ones. The pivot pins and bushings should be replaced at the same time to limit side to side movement. No D17s ever had arm rests, so it sounds like someone put an aftermarket seat on.
