The application is a 190.  We had to swap an engine due to knocking, and we found one through this forum.  It is running well but we can get it behave all the time and wants to run away.  We have a maintnance manual and it says to bend the rod which we have done but it just is not correct.  Thanks in advance for your help.  Doug.  You can also respond directly to my email, dbrothers14@gmail.com.

Engine off. Hand throttle set to half open or more. Make sure the governor arm can be moved forward easily and easily spring backwards on its own with no binding or rubbing. Oil the pivots on each end of the link rod and oil the governor spring as well. Remove the cotter pin from the link rods yoke pin on the governor arm. Pull out the yoke pin. If the governor arm moves to the rear, adjust the yoke so the pin can be slid back thru the hole WITHOUT moving the governor arm. The only "bending" of anything on that linkage is to make sure nothing rubs anywhere. Your info is wrong.

With engine off, open throttle wide open. Adjust rod between carburetor and governed arm to where the pin lacks 1/16 inch going in. Install pin and it should work.        MACK

What was the engine out of? Combine engines need the governor changed to a tractor governor.
