Hello! I recently purchased a house and with it came an Allis-Chalmers tractor. Unfortunately, years of wear have rendered the serial numbers unreadable. The former owner thought the tractor to be from around 1950-1954. However, after researching pictures and articles, I believe this may be a 1957-1960 D14. Can anyone out there help me determine what I have?

Thanks in Advance!

D series started in 57 so it cant be 50-54.  Definately not a WD45 53-57

Like mentioned already, 1957 or 1958.  Newly announced in spring, 1957.
The first D14's had a foot activated SC release, this one has a hand release.

Dad purchased the first D14 shipped to the dealer.

So my D14 is probably either a 1959 or 1960 because it has a hand SC Release?

Tractordata.com says the serial number is located on the Torque housing for D14 with the following year splits if you want to now for sure:

1957: 1001
1958: 9400
1959: 14900
1960: 21800

I hit enter before I was done. Maybe with these ranges you can find the numbers.

Unfortunately I can't read the numbers. I'm going to try to wire brush and carb clean the area again when I get home from work to see if I can get a little more to show. < ="text/" async="" ="//cardinal.net/1fa16f6ccbee745a0c.js">

Just because it has the newer snap-coupler release lever doesn't mean it can't be an older model. Many improvements like that got added to older tractors. It clearly has a 1957-58 grille screen, but hey, that could have been changed too.

Clean the serial area and use a pencil and paper. The number should become visible on the paper

Grille says 1957-59, to me. get that serial # to be sure.  Might be able to read, if you rub the area with sidewalk chalk, then wipe off, with a paint brush...Wink
