I thinking about buying a new 4 basket tedder before hay season starts. I'm looking at a manual fold bush hog brand. If I use it behind the B it would have to be all manual. I probably won't use it on the B that much, especially if I don't get it running better. Anyway I've used my two basket behind the B no sweat. This one is a 17ft tedder and requires 22hp. Is that to much for a B? If so, I'll probably get a hydraulic fold. The manual is $5500 and the hydraulic is $7100.

Ranse go with the hydraulic fold . When you get our age it’s a lot easier when switching fields you don’t have to get on and off as much. We upgraded to a hydraulic fold years ago wouldn’t go back to manual

Thanks Kenneth, I tend to agree with you. I just struggle to find chores I can do with this B. I guess I need to admit that times has passed this old girl by. I'm going to pass on the manual fold. I'm also shying away from the bush hog. I'm looking at a Vortex brand hydraulic fold for $5850. Anyone know anything about those?

Ranse,
Don't let the B hear you saying that! It can still do some work, just need to find the right job.
Regards,
 Chris

Don't know anything about the Vortex brand but I have a Sitrex hyd. fold and I hate the dam thing. It's been trouble free but it throws 50% of the hay behind it and 25% to the left and 25% to the right. First round around a field you have to drive just above idle or hay will be in fence or over fence. And yes the teeth are on it correct. The old cheapo manual fold tedder it replaced did a much better job.

We have a Kuhn that does a pretty good job. It spreads evenly but you do have to watch the first round too. It spreads just a little wider than the path it takes.

For a few $100 you can add a 12v hydraulic power pack, to fold the tedder.
Then you can add a small dump trailer to your fleet, for the B to use also.
