Hey everybody. ... Again! :) So I am at the point of getting this thing fired back up within a couple of weeks. However, I drained everything out of it. Obviously, radiator fluid I know where that goes. But Hydraulic? Transmission fluid? Oil (I think but need to make triple sure). For instance, there is a small floating dip stick near the foot clutch. Does anything go in that? Oil - Does the oil go in spout in the magneto assembly where the cap says oil? Or does it go in the other "oil" cap on the valve cover on the engine head? LOL HELP! :)

Since you apparently don't have the manuals, do yourself a favor and go to http://www.agcopubs.com/" rel="nofollow - AGCO publications . Do a search there for WD and you should find the WD service (79003405) and operator's (70257977) manuals in the list that comes up. You can get both for about $50. total as downloads to get them immediately, or printed they will send you. If you don't know about the parts books on line go to http://www.agcopartsbooks.com/partsbooksn/login.aspx?region=northamerica" rel="nofollow - AGCO parts books . Click on view books down by Guest user, Enter WD in the model box and pick AGCO Allis from the manufacturer dropdown and the WD parts book (79001544) will be listed, click on it and you have the parts book to use. The manuals will help you with these questions as well as the other issues you are asking about in other posts. They will give you a starting point and a better idea of what the guys are referring to when they answer. The scan below, from the Operator's manual, should help you with some of your questions on fill points. I would use 15W40 for engine oil, 80/90 in the finals. I believe most folks are going to the AGCO 821-XL, or other universal transmission/hydraulic fluid meeting that spec, for the hydraulics and transmission. Thanks and I do have manuals. However, reading these is useless for what I need. What I mean by that is, it will show 2, 3 or 4 places that says oil fill, oil breather, oil sump, etc... Or the other areas. The pictures are old and grainy. I Need (sorry just one of those people) that needs a picture that says "OIL HERE" - "TRANSMISSION HERE" and "HYDRAULIC HERE"! LOL Not trying to be rude or difficult, just don't want to guess and be "Well, I think the picture shows this area. Oh well, here goes nothing!. . . " hahaha Def. do not want to do that. |

Book Top photo: Engine oil goes in where the (engine) oil sump filler cap is. The oil sump gauge is the engine oil dipstick. Book Small bottom photo: I found this photo on the web, that someone here once posted (thanks), and marked up for you to go along with the small photo at the bottom of the Operator's manual page. HTH Are you ok with what the manual tells you about how to check them?

| Nice picture, but ohh so incorrect !! The front location is the hydraulic pump dipstick and this is where you actually fill it with oil. Takes about 6 quarts. The middle location is for the PTO gears and hand clutch. Will take about 2 gallons of oil. The rear plug is the transmission/differential and it too will take 2+ gallons or a tick more. You can use the same type transmission/hydraulic oil in all three locations. Fill the two rear plugs at the same time as the oil actually can run between them. Don't fill one and put the plug in. Fill them both at the same time !!! |

DrAllis, My mistake then was, where the text in Operator's manual says the fill is the upper front plug, I marked the front plug. In looking at it again the port the dipstick is in is ahead and slightly above the other one and the dipstick in the photo does say hydraulic pump filler. In reality the manual should say the fill is the dipstick hole, since there is no plug there. I have edited the photo and my post with your corrections as I don't want to leave incorrect info here. Thank you again for the help! I am about to head to the store and pick up the oil(s) as I am about ready to get this restoration cranked up. Want to make sure I am getting the proper stuff and putting it in properly. :) |

Sorry - Didn't fully read your first post.... This is what I got: Just so I understand: 15w40 = OIL (fill is Oil Fill cap by Magneto) 80/90 in the finals = I don't understand this or what this means? :( AGCO 821-XL / Universal Transmission/Hydraulic fluid = rear 2 plugs and fill together and dip stick. So I assume Hydraulic fluid and Transmission fluid are the same oil(S)? I would use 15W40 for engine oil, 80/90 in the finals. The "finals" are the final drives (one each side for the rear wheels). There's a small plug at the bottom of the final drive casing to drain the existing oil. There's another small plug on the back of the final drive. You add the 80/90 weight gear oil there until it's ready to run back out the plug hole. HTH. ------------- WC, CA, D14, WD45 |

| Hydraulic oil and transmission oil are not the same per say. Universal hydraulic transmission oil covers both. That's what 821 fluid is |
