Had a customer call us - he has a D12 for sale - with cultivators and wheel weights - solid unit runs great - possibly oem paint.  ..  SN 1001    ....  he wants to know what it is worth -- I told him possibly $3500 -  he said it was a '57 - I related it was a '59 earliest and needed SN - he said 1001.....  so does that add value ? and how much ?

Side note question. Would #1001 be the 1st tractor built? I know with old car VINs just because you have #100001 doesn't necessarily mean it was the 1st car built, just the 1st car assigned a VIN number, it may have been the 1st, 3rd, or 10th car built for that particular model.

most prototypes were scrapped from what I understand. I'm not sure how Allis numbered photo types but I'm guess that serial #1001 means it was the first production model. Value unknown to me.

I believe #6 G was the first sold, #5 stayed at the factory and was used there as a yard tractor.
