I just know ole Shameless is gonna be so proud of me on this one,,,,I got the body work done on the 2006 PT Cruiser and got it in primer ready for final sanding and shoot some paint on it when we get a nice wind free day.... Ole Joe can still do some decent body work with just a brick and a claw hammer,,,,, The engine had a small oil leak at the oil pressure sending unit and replaced it and as always my BIG ole hands just get in the way of getting into them tight tiny place they hide them dang sensors,,,,!!! Then on to the A/C to add a little refrigerant as system was a little low,,,,but I'm still lookin for the LOW pressure port and there ain't one on the "LOW Side". Now,,,in all my years of working with pumps, compressors, any rotating equipment,,,,the suction or "low side" has always been the bigger of the two lines at a pump, compressor or what have you. The discharge line or "high side" has always been the smaller of the two lines at the equipment. UNTIL they built these Chrysler PT Cruisers,,,,WTH,,,?? On this car,,there is only ONE port for charging the system and it is on the SMALLER of the two lines at the compressor as well as at the accumulator,,,,WTH,,?? Checked several videos on UTube and all of them say to use the port that is on the high side,,or is it the low side,,,??? Chit Fire,,,,

The cooler of the two when its running is the one you want, regardless of it's size.

Hey Steve,,this would apply if there is enough freon in the system to get the pressure switch to trigger the compressor to start the recycle of freon. On all of the systems I have worked on before this one, there have been two ports,,one on the low side (or bigger size line) for charging and one on the high side (smaller line) to install the pressure gauges to tell when you have enough freon in the system. You sure wouldn't want to try adding freon into the high side (smaller line) of an operable system,,,might find out what freon tastes like,,,,,

It's in front between the radiator and and compressor down low. Take the upper radiator support loose and pull it forward to get your fat fist in there. I think it points down.

That's one of the main problems working on any late model car. You can barely get your hands in anywhere, shortest possible wiring to anything, have to take half the car apart for the part to come out. They would put the wheel lugs on the inside of the wheel if they could get away with it. Then everything is made out of plastic that goes brittle in 3-5 years. I miss the vehicles of the 60's and 70's. OK, OK I'm done, feel better now too. Sorry I didn't have your answer Joe, I usually have to spend a day researching anything I need to do with my van on the internet.

Well,,JC,,,until I find ole Fixer's suggestion,,,I ain't learnt nuttin yet,,,,, Yeah,,Chask,,,I'm like you talk bout,,,I got some big old hams and that always works against me gettin into them tiny crooks and crevacies where the dang car mfgrs hide them sensors,,,,which dang sure don't help my arthritic hands,,,,, When I grow up,,,,I wanna have small hands,,,,with NO Arthritis,,,!!!!

Dang you and this false addvertizing you didn't learn it yet. If you would pumped a can brake clean or some such and had it explode then you would of had some learning to share.
I do like to think I can learn something everyday but generally it is don't believe what I just learned on the net.
I was buying parts at the store I have been frequenting, and asked about another problem. Asked if they had a book that would say something more than most I got that say take it to a professional . So the oldest guys says just look on youtube we don't even have them no good books anymore.
So I looked on the tube, and find the guy doing it the second time cause the first didn't fix it. Then a guy fixing AC by adding something from a spray can that was not a approved AC juice , didn't blow up on camera anyway.
So Joe could you hire a cameraman to follow you around on this job . You can be the next youtube millionaire . I have found one or 2 that did tell me something that helped but you need to go thru 10 that could kill you if you do it there way.
So thank you to the ones here that give advice that keeps O'l Joe around to post more funnies.

I've seen them 'do it yourselfers' vids, and think, do they gots any brains? Example - Like a vid on sharpening a chainsaw chain... with a hand held grinder... YIKES!!! He shoves that grinder into the teeth and a spray of sparks flying and then says the rakers are needing to be ground down a little bit so he was going to just 'touch them up'... yea, touch them and shoves the grinder down on top of them and make another shower of sparks... It was a kid out in the yard doing it... Can't find the vid but here is one that isn't as aggressive at it... LOL
