One of the best looking tractors made! A new improved 190XT. Really enjoy seeing them.How many years produced? 3? ------------- sometimes I walk out to my shop and look around and think "Who's the idiot that owns this place?" |

| I remember when they first came from West Allis. The black cowl on the hood, the muffler (versus a straight pipe on the One-Ninety's), new decals, etc. all made it look just enough different that it was pretty cool to look at. |

Norm Swinford’s book says, “The model 200 was produced from February 1972, until October 1975. During that time approximately 10,126 tractors were produced.” It also talks about the 200’s new QCS (quiet, comfortable, & safe) cab was designed by west Allis & LaPorte engineers, then built at LaPorte. It was the forerunner of several tractor cabs that would set new sound-level targets for an entire industry (i think that is referring to the later 7000 series’ ”acousta cab”??) It was Allis-Chalmers’ first ROPS model cab.

| I don't remember AC making any decibel level claims on that 200 factory cab, but they were pretty darned quiet. Waaay better than any Hiniker or Year-a-round cab. |

That 200 factory cab was the best one AC had up to that time. But, the Acousta cabs on the 7000 series were the quietest in the industry when they came out. Just wish they would have been a little bigger.

| Bigger is noisier. The 8000 series cab wasn't as quiet as the 7000 series due to the size and placement (farther forward) and the under hood muffler. |

I'd have to agree with you on that. My thoughts on the 7000 series cabs are, that they may be a little tougher to get into due to a tight squeeze, but they are darn sure cozy once you're nestled in. Darrel |
