on 2 IDENTICAL  tractors (Xt'S), the ONLY difference being the operators seat. If 1 machine had a cobbled RV seat/frame bolted to the existing frame and the other had a "basically" 95% newish seat/cushion  rehab, would any of you perspective bidders pay more for 1 over the other?? Thanks

drive them both and test them out and take the one that is the tightest, least rumbling and good starting , and operates the smoothest.

If one has a better seat than the other, then they are not identical. actually, it would be hard to say two different used tractors are identical, I'd go for the better tractor

I guess what I'm getting at,our XT has the "rv" seat contraption but dad says the "upgrade" to a "factory"seat won't justify the cost. I have a lead on seat parts and am willing to/able to do the leg work, dad is "on the fence".He says if it might go for more,he would be all in, LOL! BTW, 8 out of 10 on mechanical rating.

Personally I would bid a few hundred more on the one with the correct seat, all other things being equal.

I agree with Hubert and will add that the wrong seat would make me a little nervous on what other corners were cut during the tractors life. And after buying three tractors this year my new rule on tractors is if the lights don't work I am not buying it. Not that repairing lights are a big deal it's just that if the lights work chances are it's a nicer tractor. But just my opinion lol

I go for the most comfy seat. I was one of those type people that put a plush van seat on a IH 460 tractor years ago. the original seat and frame was shot and never fixed by the PO. everyone laughed at my 460 tractor until they sat on it. then it was o-k! there was nothing wrong with that tractor. it was kept up by me, and ran as it should. I've made a few mods on equipment thru the years. it either allowed me to finish what I was doing at the time, or it was modified for the better! i'm also more of a light type person, anything I've ever bought off a dealers lot I made sure I tell them that if the lights work I'll buy it! seats and lights don't make anything run any better, but if they run good, then either one makes driving them nicer!

Yeah,,Ten Four,, Shameless,,  on those little details. I been buyin and sellin cars and trks, boats, ATVs,, mostly everything for some time and I will always make sure everything like lights, turn signals, horn,  ECT, Ect works as people will not quibble bout the price when they know everything works to start with. People are more comfortable with buying something where everything works. The only'ist thing I might not repair is an A/C system that needs too many repairs ,,but I let em know up front that it don't work. THEN, I offer to fix the A/C for a higher price if they buy the parts. Their choice.

I've got a van seat on my C which is my grass mower.  I like it as it's comfortable.  And yes, the lights work and it runs like a top.

im with Hubert and red bank on this one because things like that are a sign that   other things are taken care of properly , you can tell very quikly who takes care of there stuff when it comes to the shop. also i believe mechanics do a better job on things that are clean and kept up,  compared to the cobbled up greasey ones  or bent up sheet metal

I’m also with Hubert and Red bank on this. Honestly I would lose sleep if one of my tractors had an RV seat.
Now on the flip side I’m always looking for something to get it for a little less. If I look and see that the WRONG seat is bolted not welded on and extra holes drilled in the tractor that make it harder to look original I might just buy it but it would have to be cheap enough to make it original.
I couldn’t stand the wrong steel seat and round spoke steering wheel on my WC and I did lose sleep over it.
