Good evening all,

I've been spreading manure and my loader is getting a serious workout filling the spreader up.  It's gotten to the point where she is barely able to lift up a bucket of manure and to initially get it off the ground i'm getting a whine like it's not going to happen.

My 6080 is a late 1983, SN is approximately 5450.  Do i have the screen on the suction side of the pump?  On the AGCO parts book, it looks like effective with SN 5284 they did away with it?

The loader has been unable to lift the front end of the tractor up since i've had it so i had been meaning to clean the screen but now i'm not sure i even have one.  If i do, could someone perhaps include a short writeup on how to remove it?  I see it mentioned in several threads but only to the extent that "Make sure you clean the screen".  Do i have to drain the fluid to clean the screen?

I checked the trans fluid and its full, rearend was a little low so i topped off but no change from that.  Filter is only a year old.  Is there anything i'm missing that could be causing the problem?  Weak pump?  Thanks all.

When I first get any new to me unit I do all the fluid changes.  On my 6080 that suction screen was almost completely blocked, everything from bugs to leaves???  They must have ran it with a cap off.  What little I used it before that I never had a problem.  Underneath the rear end housing there is a block/pipe that holds the screen.  If you see in the picture the plate on the left side of the tube assembly is held on with 2 bolts, pull that off and the screen is in back of it.  The screen goes into that pipe up until the bevel, about 6" long I think.  That plate does have a O ring on it.  Yes the rear end fluid will come out when you pull that plate.  Mine is a 1983 model also.

If I'm not mistaking if you have two hydraulic filters under the left floor board then it has been updated and has no screen.

If you have a suction screen and if it is plugged, I would expect the power steering to be acting up too. If steering is fine, then the lift pump section has an issue or the main relief valve on the hydraulic stack is failing.

Thanks a lot for chiming in guys.  My tractor, and those after SN 5284 do not have the suction screen, they have the additional filter screw on filter.  So like mentioned before, that makes two on the left side below the seat.  These are numbers 70253952 and 70270958.  I have a napa gold 1652 in place of 70270958.  I believe AGCO gives you a red filter without a part number on it, if you get it from them.  While i'm here, the NAPA part number for 70253952 is 1831.  I included a picture of my effective SN 5284 where the strainer is on the prior 5284 so you could see the housing is a little different.

Also, my steering is just "okay".  The tractor has to be moving in order to turn the wheels.  I'll look over a few things, maybe replace filters again and if there is no improvement i'll get back on here.  Thanks again.
